This sculpture by Caitlind Brown is a perfect example for our vocabulary homework assignment this week. I am so in love with this sculpture I want to put it in my living room. It is a perfectly balance piece of work. The contrast in the bulbous shape of the clouds to the linear shape of the rain divided by a perfectly executed horizontal placement of division. This piece also demonstrates perfect vertical symmetric balance. If you drew a straight line through it the left and right side are complete mirrored refections of each other. This is a well balanced master piece.
This sculpture also contrasts in many different aspects. The curvilinear light bulbs contrast with the rectilinear lines of rain. The rain is also mostly composed of negative space where as the clouds are a very unified positive shape. I love this sculpture for so many reasons. This produces awe and happiness. Art should always have a defined emotional reaction, and this is a perfect example of a piece of art that depicts happiness.
